The Virtual Privacy Office runs a number of newsletters, discussion forums, and project mailing lists all on a basis of mailing lists.

Mailing lists work very simple, they can be run at a reasonable price and require only little technical knowledge: One member of a mailing list sends his contribution via e-mail to the mailing list server address. The server in turn forwards this contribution to the mailing list members. To become a member of a mailing list, you need to have an e-mail account and subscribe to the list.
